A young mother in Tennessee is praising God after her 4-month old son was found alive in the wreckage caused by a tornado that ripped through their home.

The baby, whose name is Lord, was inside their mobile home, with his one-year old brother Princeton, and their mother Sydney and partner Aramis, when 150 mph winds snatched him from them.

She told reporters the warning sirens didn’t go off until the baby and her boyfriend were both already in the air.  All they heard was a rushing sound, before chaos struck: “My boyfriend said, ‘It sounds like an airplane.’”

As the house started to shake, Sydney reached for her older son, Princeton, while Aramis tried to grab Lord, who was in his moses basket. “He tried to grab him, but he couldn’t, and the tip of the tornado sucked them both up,” she said.

Aramis was hit by a tree and was left with a broken collarbone, but they couldn’t find their son. “We were screaming for each other,” Moore said. “I just remember asking, ‘Where’s my baby?!’”

They eventually found the baby, lying in the branches of a fallen tree not far from the wreckage of their home. An online fundraising campaign has raised more than $100,000 to help the family get back on their feet.

Sydney’s sister, Caitlyn Moore, said the couple’s car wasn’t insured, and the tornado had taken everything from their home, “all of the formula, diapers, wipes, clothing…” The family is grateful no-one was killed or more seriously injured.  Caitlyn says it’s a miracle they all survived: “We are told that he looked like he was placed on the tree gently,” she said, “like an angel guided him safely to that spot.”
