Several thousand people gave their lives to Christ during this year’s SoCal Harvest Crusade, an evangelistic event organised by popular pastor Greg Laurie.
The annual worship event gathered 32,000 people in two nights at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Writing on Twitter, Laurie said the event had an “electric, revival-like atmosphere” and he could sense “God’s presence”.
He wrote: “Thousands of people were turned away each night because every seat was taken by excited believers who wanted to worship. At the same time, this was our most effective evangelistic event that we perhaps have ever had.
“We always hope and pray for a 10 per cent response when the invitation is given for people to come to Christ. Saturday and Sunday brought us closer to 11.5 per cent. On Saturday night, we had 16,000 in attendance with 1,712 responding to the Gospel.
“But on Sunday night, we had 16,500 people attend with 2,023 responding to the invitation to follow Christ! That’s a total of 32,000 people that were there for the 2 nights and 3,735 responding!”
Award-winning Christian music artists Michael W. Smith, Chris Tomlin, Phil Wickham, and Taya Gaukrodger led worship while Greg Laurie preached both nights.
Later this month, Harvest Christian Fellowship, pastored by Laurie, will host a church-wide baptism at Pirates Cove in Corona Del Mar, California – the beach that witnessed the baptisms of thousands of believers during the Jesus Revolution movement in 1960s and early 1970s.
