The vice president of church-planting network Acts 29 has been removed from leadership after confessing to a “long-term extramarital relationship".
In an internal memo, the ministry announced the removal of Tyler Jones, stating he had violated “clear standards of integrity, transparency, and biblical conduct".
According to The Roys Report (TRR), Jones made the confession during an elders’ meeting on 18 February. The elders voted to remove him from his role with immediate effect. Acts 29 leaders told TRR the behaviour occurred before his employment with the network in September 2022.
Leaders at Vintage Church in Raleigh, North Carolina, where Jones serves as lead pastor, told the congregation they believed the relationship began after Jones founded the church in 2002.
Acts 29 describes itself as a global network of churches bound together by relationship, theology and mission. Founded in the 1990s, it primarily focuses on planting new evangelical churches.
Jones has served in leadership within Acts 29 for more than two decades.
