The Apostolic Gospel Church of Delano have posted a photo on facebook with the words: "PRAYER REQUEST: please pray for Zion Tabernacle Apostolic Church family in Indianapolis, Indiana who lost nine members in the tragic duck boat incident in Branson, Missouri. The church is reeling with grief and needs our love and prayer support. (Five adults and four children, all under the age of 10, from the family were killed. Not pictured here is another young girl who lost her life.)"
Vigils were held by the grief-stricken community following the deaths.
At one memorial, about 300 people gathered in the car park of Ride the Ducks of Branson and sang Amazing Grace. Mourners at a church sang the same words.
A survivor from the family has said the captain told passengers not to bother grabbing life jackets.
Tia Coleman told an Indianapolis television station that she and a nephew were the only survivors among 11 relatives aboard the boat.
She said she lost all her children, but she did not say how many.
Aaron Porter, who works in youth ministry in a Pentecostal church in Indiana, mentioned the lead pastor at the church in his tribute: "My heart aches for Dr.Griffin and Zion Tabernacle and the family who has lost so much. We are the body of Christ and when you hurt we hurt. You have our prayers and support. #OnlyGodCanComfort"
