Churches across the UK are being urged to hold 72-hour prayer vigils over Halloween to “push back every shadow” and declare “the victory of the Cross.”
The National Day of Prayer and Worship (NDOPW) is calling on its network of 1,500 Shine Your Light churches to join the round-the-clock gatherings from midnight on 30th October to 2nd November.
The initiative aims to turn a weekend often associated with darkness into one of worship and spiritual renewal.
Founder Pastor Jonathan Oloyede told Christian Today: “This is the hour for God’s people to shine His glorious light over our nation.”
He added that the call is to “every believer, every intercessor, and every worshipper, to take your place on the wall,” filling the 72 hours “with burning hearts, bold prayers, and victorious declarations that Jesus is Lord.”
The vigils are expected to prepare the ground for Shine Your Light 2025 in December, a nationwide outreach featuring carol services and events in public spaces.
Last year’s campaign saw 100,000 Christians engage over a million people, and organisers hope to double that this year through youth outreach and social media.
A Christmas broadcast in partnership with Spring Harvest will also reach thousands in prisons and homeless shelters.
Pastor Oloyede said, “Let’s stand as overcomers, carriers of divine light, and proclaim together that the Kingdom of God reigns.”
