WATCH: Mob burns Bibles

Christians were filmed in southern India as they attempted to transport Bibles, pamphlets and other Christian books, before they were emptied onto the road.

Several men can be seen in the video tearing the books before setting them on fire.

 

 

A second video shows Bibles and Christian pamphlets being distributed to students in Telangana state before being thrown onto the street as well.

The Evangelical Fellowship of India (EFI) described 2017 as "one of the most traumatic" years in a decade for Indian Christians after it recorded 351 verified incidences of hate crimes against Christians.

India is ranked 11th on the World Watch List of countries where Christians face the most persecution because of their faith.
According to the organisation, since the Hindu nationalist BJP came to power in 2014, radical Hinduism has increased steadily.

Several states have outlawed proselytism, and there have been efforts to impose such so-called "anti-conversion laws" at a national level.
