Vatican releases document ahead of next family synod

The October meeting is being treated as a preliminary discussion for the synod next year.

Now a new document has been sent to bishop's conferences, the Synods of Eastern Catholic Churches, the Union of Religious Superiors and the dicasteries of the Roman Curia.

It's hoped all people involved in the Catholic Church will be able to have their say on the document so that it can be used as a guideline for the next family synod.

Questions on the document include those about the promotion of authentic family values, the training of priests in family ministry and divorced and gay people.
