A priest has been killed and another's in critical condition after a shooting at a Catholic church in the United States.

28 year old Father Kenneth Walker died after the incident late on Wednesday night at Mother of Mercy Mission in Phoenix whilst Father Joseph Terra, who's 56, remains serious.

Their diocese says it's stunned and deeply saddened.

Police are investigating.
