'Unique' former Methodist church back up for auction

by Lydia Davies

A former Methodist church in Leicestershire, built in 1905, is set to go up for auction once again later this month.

Located on Market Street in the heart of Castle Donington, the property has been described as "unique" and a "rare opportunity" for investors by SDL Auctions.

The church, which includes an adjoining assembly hall, meeting rooms, and amenity space, first went up for sale in 2023.

At the time, the lot included a house on Apiary Gate, but the sale was postponed.

According to Leicester Live, It was relisted in April this year, but remains unsold.

Now, the church is scheduled for auction on Wednesday 23rd October , with a guide price of £150,000 plus fees.

This time, the house in Apiary Gate is not part of the auction lot.

SDL Auctions also highlighted the potential for alternative uses for the building, subject to the appropriate planning permissions.
