A pastor in Uganda has been tragically murdered in front of his daughter after a group of Islamic extremists attacked him with long knifes and blunt objects.

According to news outlet Morning Star, three men attacked pastor Stephen Lugwire while he was feeding his animals with his 23-year-old daughter, Brenda Lugwire, in Namutumba District.

Pastor Lugwire’s daughter said she heard how one of the men called his dad a “kafir” or infidel.

The men yelled: “We have told you to remove the church, which is near our mosque, but you have not heeded our message. Today you will face the wrath from Allah.”

The 58-year-old pastor’s congregation had been worshipping at their church for the last two years.

The daughter continued: “There and then one of the assailants hit my dad with a big stick on the head, and he fell down.” She then fled the scene after a man slashed her dad with a knife.

Police located the pastor’s body after the attack was reported, which was found with deep cuts to the neck and chest.

A wealthy Muslim woman was arrested after police found out that the attackers went to her house to clean themselves and change their clothes, according to Morning Star.

She said: “The servants of Allah entered my house in order to remove the clothes which they were wearing, because they were soaked in blood, and said that they had killed an infidel, hence Allah will reward them as they were following the footsteps of their prophet.

"The pastor didn't honour Allah by refusing to demolish the church which was close to the mosque, along with his activities of winning their members to Christianity."

No further arrests have been made.

Pastor Lugwire is survived by his wife, a son, and seven daughters.
