Trump would beat Jesus in election, advisor claims

Steve Cortes was asked during a TV interview whether he believed Oprah Winfrey posed a significant threat to the incumbent leader in the 2020 vote.

He responded by telling Fox Business Network: "If Donald Trump has three more years like the year he just had of amazing successes... he can run against a combined ticket of Jesus and the Virgin Mary and he will still win in 2020."

Cortes, a member of Trump's Hispanic Advisory Council, spoke after a rousing speech by Oprah Winfrey ignited speculation that the popular talk show host might have presidential ambitions.

He spoke with host Stuart Varney, who also offered his own view - arguing that any presidency bid by Oprah Winfrey would "encourage the view that politics has become a giant reality show" (see below).

Accepting the Cecil B DeMille Award at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards in California on Sunday, the 63-year-old talked about female and black empowerment, sexual harassment and how poverty shaped her childhood.

Asked how he rated Oprah Winfrey's chances of reaching the White House, Mr Cortes - a Trump supporter - replied: "I don't know what Oprah believes.

"I do know this, that she lives in a world of absolute media adoration and I think that would change very quickly after getting in the business of politics."
