Trump earned $208,000 from Bible sales, records reveal

by Premier Journalist

US President Donald Trump earned more than $200,000 from sales of Trump-branded Bibles, according to newly released financial disclosures.

The filings, published by the US Office of Government Ethics, show Trump received $208,000 from a Bible venture linked to country music singer Lee Greenwood.

The Bible, marketed as the God Bless the USA Bible, was promoted by Trump during the 2024 presidential campaign and combines the biblical text with a selection of American founding documents.

The earnings were disclosed as part of a financial filing detailing the president's income from a wide range of business interests during his first year back in office.

The disclosure shows Trump received income from real estate, watches, fragrances, cryptocurrency investments and licensing deals, among other ventures.

Among the figures listed were $4.7 million from Trump-branded watches and more than $67,000 from branded sneakers and fragrances.

The filing also revealed substantial income from Trump's golf clubs and resorts, including Mar-a-Lago in Florida, which generated more than $77 million.

Ethics groups have questioned whether sitting presidents should be permitted to profit from commercial ventures while in office.

Eric Petry of the Brennan Center for Justice said the scale of the president's earnings was unprecedented.

"The numbers we're seeing now are unlike anything we've ever seen before. It's really staggering what we're seeing right now," he said.

"No president has profited from their office, profiting from the White House, like President Trump has."

Trump has rejected suggestions that he is personally benefiting from the presidency.

Speaking to reporters on 1 July, he said: "I made a lot of money before I became president."

The president said investment managers oversee his finances and denied he was actively seeking to profit from public office.

“I don’t get involved in my personal," he said. "We have funds that run my money.”

The president also denied he was actively seeking to profit from public service, and indicated he felt all Americans were benefitting from record gains on Wall Street.

“Everybody is profiting,” he added.

The Bible sales represented a small fraction of the president's overall reported earnings, which the disclosure said exceeded $2 billion from a variety of business activities.
