Traitors fans suspect surprise twist for CofE vicar

by Anna Rees Green

As hit BBC show The Traitors leaves viewers on a cliff edge after the first week of its Season 3 return, fans are taking to social media with theories about ordained contestant, Lisa.

Rev Lisa Coupland is a Church of England vicar from Meneage parish, Cornwall. She caused a stir when entering the programme and declaring: “I’m a priest, not a saint.”

Now some fans speculate there could be even more to her than meets the eye. In its previous two seasons, two players have shared a secret family connection which was not revealed until later in the programme. One X user said: “I think Lisa and Linda [from] the Traitors are sisters, I’m calling it”.

Another suggested on TikTok that the two could be in a relationship: “I think [Lisa] and [Linda] are a couple,” the user noted, highlighting their similar fashion choices and the ease with which they conversed upon meeting.

Contestants Lisa and Linda bear similarities; both are the most senior women of the group, with Linda suggesting she would balance Lisa by being the “fun old person”. The two seem to have a supportive bond, opting to vote out the same contestants and the ‘roundtable’ meetings. However, fans hoping for a romantic twist could be disappointed, as Rev Coupland has said she is happily married to her husband.

A family pairing has already been revealed on the show; sisters Armani and Maia introduced themselves as siblings. Yet with clergywoman Lisa tight-lipped about her day job in the competition thus far, viewers will have to tune in to see what other secrets the vicar might reveal.
