Maverick City has won its first-ever Grammy music award for their album Old Church Basement, a live LP recorded with Elevation Worship.

They won in the category of Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. 

The group also received nominations for Best Gospel Performance, Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance and Best Gospel Album. 

"THANK YOU JESUS!" the group's Twitter account said.

"Everything we do belongs to God! We're so honored to be a part of what He is doing in the Kingdom! Thank you to YOU our community, our family for the love and support, this wouldn't be possible without you!"

According to the group, it was also the first time in 20 years since a Gospel or Christian artist had performed live on TV -they performed their #1 hit "Jireh". 

"All the glory and praise goes to Jireh," the group said.  

Maverick City's Chandler Moore accepted the award along with members of both Maverick City and Elevation Worship standing behind him.

"We just want to thank God," he said. 

"Maverick City was a space created for those who are marginalized, unheard [and] rejected in this space to be heard - all of us on this stage represent that," he added.

The group has recently announced their upcoming tour with gospel artist Kirk Franklin entitled the "Kingdom Tour." 

The tour will also feature special guests such as Jonathan McReynolds and Housefires.
