Taylor Swift has said she is “at a loss” after children were killed in a knife attack at a dance and yoga workshop themed around her music.
At the time of writing, three children are confirmed to have died as a result of the stabbings in Southport.
A statement by the singer on social media read:
“The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport is washing over me continuously. I’m just completely in shock … The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families, and first responders.
“These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.”
The singer brought The Eras Tour 22 miles north of Southport, to the Anfield Stadium, Liverpool, in June.
Swift has grappled with faith and grief in previous lyrics. "Did some force take because I didn't pray", she sings in Bigger Than the Whole Sky, which many fans believe to be about the loss of a child. In Soon You'll Get Better, referencing her mother's cancer, Swift sings: "Desperate people find faith, so now I pray to Jesus too."
