Study finds Londoners suffering from "Advent Anxiety"

The age group that faces the most stress according to the Direct Line survey are 25-34 year olds, but stress-levels appear to improve with age.

Two out of three over-65s say they find Christmas stress-free.

The top three reasons for stressful holidays were cited as shopping sprees, big bills and Christmas dinner going wrong.

Pauline Andrews, a Christian Counsellor, told Premier: "One thing we don't do anymore is take time to reflect. We are carried along on a tide of energy.

"Do what you can do well with enthusiasm and delegate other jobs. Draw up team Christmas so you are all in it together."

She also said that Christian is an emotional time and people are often saddened by past loss or hardship.

Ms Andrews says "being sad in happiness or happy in sadness is okay."
