Entrepreneur and TV ‘dragon’ Steven Bartlett has described evidence for Jesus being the son of God as “persuasive”.

On his Diary of a CEO podcast, which is the second most-listened to in the UK, the Dragons’ Den star sat down with evangelist Wesley Huff to explore “the truth about Christianity”.

The two-and-a-half-hour episode saw Barlett open up about his own Christian upbringing, what led him to “new wave atheism”, and explore the case for the ‘Quiet Revival’.

“If I don’t believe in Jesus, in the Bible,” Barlett asked, “am I going to hell?”

“Yes and no,” responded Huff. “Heaven isn't full of good people. Heaven is full of people who understand they are not good enough. Justice and mercy…  justice is fulfilled in Jesus. So, mercy, which we do not deserve, is given to those who put their trust in Jesus.”

Reflecting on the book of Revelation in the Bible, Barlett remarked that the “bad news” about hell was “very bad”.

“‘Weeping and gnashing of teeth… eternal torment,’” he read, “this is not a place I want to go.”

“No, the bad news is bad. But that’s what makes the good news so good,” Huff responded.

Barlett described the evidence for Jesus’ death and resurrection as “persuasive,” adding that he considers himself a sceptic who requires a “high bar” of evidence to trust something.

The conversation has received positive feedback, with listeners in its comments opening up about their own ‘Quiet Revival’ experiences.

One user wrote: “I’m a former thiest that went about telling people that there is no God to encountering God through a radical conversion and now preaching the gospel. I am a witness that Jesus is alive and well. There are still witnesses today!”

“If you asked me in 2023 that I’d be reading the Bible and thinking of church in 2026 I would have said you're crazy...” wrote another, “now I’m praying all day every day.”
