Rev Tudor Rowlands, 74, already had nine points on his licence when he was caught travelling at 40mph in a 30 zone.
Mr Rowlands serves a parish in Powys, Mid-Wales.
The vicar pleaded guilty at Welshpool Magistrates Court, but said if he was banned from driving it would damage the "spiritual health of communities" if he couldn't reach elderly people unable to get to church themselves, and that it would be an "exceptional hardship."
Magistrates accepted this and allowed Mr Rowlands to pay a £175 fine.
