Churches in and around Lancashire have been plagued by a spate of thefts, as the third church in three weeks sees their flag stones stolen.
The latest victim is Ormskirk Parish Church; clergy arrived at the place of worship to find the path completely destroyed, with precious flag stones ripped up and removed.
It's believed that the perpetrators carried out their crimes at around midnight on Tuesday, February 15.
Just three weeks ago, 100 ancient York stone flags were taken from the path at St Cuthbert's Church in Halsall, just miles from the latest incident.
The stones at St Cuthbert's were believed to be around 200 years old, but the destruction of the historical path meant the church was unable to conduct wedding ceremonies.
Heavy York stones have also been stolen from a Ribble Valley church in recent days.
Thieves appear to be removing the stones with minimal destructions to the artefacts. Police and clergy believe the stones are being sold on.
Police are appealing for information following the most recent theft, in Ormskirk. The offenders are believed to have been travelling in a white, high-top Ford Transit van.
Those with information are urged to contact the Lancashire Police.
