Snoop Dogg says 'God was in the building' after The Voice contestant performs Oceans

by Lydia Davies

In a recent episode of NBC’s The Voice, a contestant from Alabama, USA, created a spiritual atmosphere that left an impact on the talent show's judges.

Lauren-Michael Sellers performed the worship song Oceans (where feet may fail) by Hillsong United during her blind audition, prompting all four judges to turn their chairs.

Judges Gwen Stefani and Michael Bublé were the first to turn.

“What a beautiful breath of fresh air you are,” Bublé remarked, praising her voice and energy, while Stefani shared how the song had deeply resonated with her during a personal moment, calling Sellers' rendition "real and honest".

As the song continued, Reba McEntire and Snoop Dogg joined in, turning their chairs toward Sellers.

Snoop explained his delayed reaction by saying: “While you were singing, I saw Gwen light up, as if God was coming in the building, and I didn’t want to be left out when he came.”

McEntire said: “This is magical. I love your voice. When emotion comes through in singing, it’s the greatest gift.”

Following the performance, Sellers revealed that she prayed before going on stage, reciting a prayer often used by McEntire: “Holy Spirit, walk with me, talk with me, sing for me, speak for me.”

Sellers chose McEntire as her coach.

Later, Sellers posted a video of her leading fellow contestants in worship by the pool, singing Oceans together.

She called it “an unforgettable moment” and reflected on how music connects people to one another and to God, regardless of their surroundings.
