A preacher in the US is making headlines after a security guard asked him to take off his ‘Jesus saves’ t-shirt as it was “offending people”.

Paul Shoro was handing out gospel tracks at the Mall of America in Minnesota when the security guards approached him.

The incident was recorded in a video that has now thousands of views on social media. In it, the security guard can be seen pleading with the shopper.

“If you want to shop here you need to take off that shirt,” he said.

“Jesus is associated with religion and it is offending people. People have been offended,” the security guard continued.

A spokesman for Mall of America told DailyMail.com that the man was allowed to remain in the Mall following the interaction while still wearing his shirt.

In an interview following the event, Shoro said that when he was asked to take the t-shirt off he said he said he would rather “go to jail” than do so.

He also explained he had previously been to the shopping centre to preach the Gospel but had been told it wasn’t allowed.

According to the Mall’s policies, “picketing, demonstrating, soliciting, protesting or petitioning” is forbidden.

A group called Bloomington Patriots plans to hold a demonstration at the mall on 4th February and is asking attendees to wear 'Jesus shirts’.
