School accused of using Bible reading as punishment

by Eno Adeogun

The North Bend School District in Oregon initially denied the claim but The Coos Bay World reported that the building administrator admitted in an interview with state education officials that he did demand the unusual punishment.

A letter dated 6th March from the Oregon Department of Education to the District Superintendent lists a number of other accusations including an LGBTQ student being forced to read the Bible, and whether LGBTQ students were discriminated against after reporting sexual harassment.

The district has since released a statement that explains the allegations occurred over the course of several years, "most of which had not been brought to the district's attention".
