The YouVersion Bible App hit a historic milestone on 5th January, recording 798,000 installations in a single day—the highest since its launch in 2008.
This broke the previous record set on the first Sunday of last year.
New Year’s Day also ranked third for the app's most single-day downloads, founder Bobby Gruenewald told The Christian Post.
Gruenewald noted an annual “seasonal uptick in Bible engagement” around the New Year, as people adopt new habits and resolutions.
“What’s interesting is that this year’s increase is even higher than the same time last year, and it’s a trend we’re seeing globally,” he said.
The app has seen its strongest growth in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Ethiopia led with a 198 percent surge in activity, followed by Egypt (94 percent), Turkey (74 percent), Ghana (65 percent), and Pakistan (48 percent). Northern Africa recorded an overall increase of 297 percent, while the Middle East saw a 166 percent rise.
The YouVersion app offers Bible translations, daily scriptures, and reading plans in over 2,100 languages. With over 850 million downloads worldwide, it remains one of the most popular faith-based apps.
