A memorial service to celebrate the life of late apologist Ravi Zacharias is due to be held on Friday.
The event will be streamed lived on YouTube and Facebook from 4pm.
Ravi Zacharias passed away on 19th May after a short battle with cancer. His illness was diagnosed earlier this year after he underwent surgery for a long-term back problem. The doctors noticed an irregularity and quickly determined that he had an aggressive tumor called a "sarcoma" on his spine.
While Zacharias began cancer treatment in April, the following month it was announced that doctors could no nothing more for the Christian thinker after his cancer began spreading rapidly. "His oncologist informed us that this cancer is very rare in its aggression and that no options for further treatment remain," RZIM's CEO, Sarah Davis, wrote in an update at the start of May. "Medically speaking, they have done all they are able."
Ravi died just a few weeks later.
In an announcement about the memorial service, RZIM said: "Ravi Zacharias spent the past 48 years traveling the world to commend the Christian faith and address life’s greatest existential questions of origin, meaning, morality, and destiny with eloquence and grace for a variety of audiences. Through his founding and leadership of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM), Ravi launched a global team of nearly 100 Christian scholars and authors who continue to speak, resource, train, and address the questions of millions around the world.
The Zacharias family have asked that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made to the ongoing work of RZIM.
The organisation added: "Ravi’s heart was people. His passion and life’s work centered on helping people understand the beauty of the gospel message of salvation. Our prayer is that, at his passing, more people will come to know the saving grace found in Jesus through Ravi’s legacy and the global team at Ravi Zacharias International Ministries."
