Martin Scorsese’s 'The Life of Jesus' may not be hitting our screens as soon as expected, after the director announced he is still contemplating how to tell the story.
The film detailing the life of Jesus was set to begin shooting this April, but speaking at the 2024 Berlin Festival Scorsese explained that he is still in the early stages of the much-anticipated project.
“I’m contemplating it right now,” the director said. “What kind of film I’m not quite sure, but I want to make something unique and different that could be thought-provoking, and I hope also entertaining. I’m not quite sure yet how to go about it.”
Scorsese decided to make the film, after the Pope appealed him to ‘show us Jesus’ onscreen at a conference at the Vatican last year.
The piece is expected to draw inspiration from the book A Life of Jesus by Shūsaku Endō, who also wrote the historical missionary tale Silence, which Scorsese brought to life on the big screen in 2016.
