The Catholic Church is facing a "haemorrhage" of priests and nuns, Pope Francis has warned.
He said there was a serious shortage of clergy for the Church whilst speaking at an event in the Vatican.
Francis blamed today's society, that he said was telling people to avoid making decisions that would change their entire life.
People were making "a la carte" choices for their life instead of making firm commitments on one way forward.
The shortage of clergy was weakening the Catholic Church, the pope warned.
There has been a shortage of priests in the developed world for many years and the Vatican has been forced to move priests from Africa to fill empty parishes in the Western World.
