Speaking during an address on Thursday he spoke about how pilgrims carry their own faith and history and said that he would celebrate the Catholic Jubilee Year of Mercy as one big pilgrimage.
According to Vatican Radio, the pontiff said every pilgrim should be welcomed to a shine, especially after many will have taken a difficult journey to reach their destination.
He said each pilgrim brings with them a special prayer and added anyone can be welcomed, even curious tourists, because everyone person has a heart that seeks God.
But the Pope reminded his audience that it is a mistake to assume that people who go on a group pilgrimage do not experience the trip in a personal way too.
