The UK's Metropolitan Police have announced a review after an officer attempted to stop a street preacher, saying that publicly declaring the Gospel was “all wrong.”
A video taken outside King’s Cross Station in London shows a member of the preaching group Mad 4 Jesus being approached by an officer.
“It’s so loud,” the officer can be heard saying.
The preacher asks whether there is an issue with what she is doing, to which the officer replies, “These people just want to do their journey—they're not coming here to listen to you.”
When the preacher asks if a “happy clappy song” would be a better alternative, the officer responds, “I just think it’s all wrong.”
The preacher then says, “God bless you,” and the officer walks away.
The leader of Mad 4 Jesus Ministries later shared that shortly after the exchange, she was able to pray with a different police officer.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “We are aware of a video posted on social media showing an interaction involving an officer outside King’s Cross railway station.
“Officers were on patrol at the station when they came across a group preaching on private land with a loudspeaker, which requires permission from Network Rail. As such, they asked them to leave.
“We fully appreciate everyone’s right to religious expression, and the incident in full is currently being reviewed by a senior officer.”
