Poland's ambassador to the Holy See has said the country could try and extradite Jozef Wesolowski.
Archbishop Wesolowski lost his diplomatic immunity after a Vatican court found the accusations proven and removed him from the priesthood – a decision he's now appealing.
Originally from Poland, Mr Wesolowski was working in the Dominican Republic when the claims first emerged.
Ambassador Piotr Nowina-Konopka said the government in Warsaw was reviewing its options.
He told Religion News Service: "We are currently analyzing the situation regarding immunity
"Without doubt Poland considers the acts that the archbishop is alleged to have carried out as particularly repugnant and Pope Francis' firm approach to that type of crime has won great respect and full support in Poland".
Poland has already tried to extradite the former archbishop last year but the request was rejected by the Vatican.
Now the Holy See had defrocked him things could be different.
