The former pastor of Trinity Bible Church in Dallas has publicly acknowledged his moral failure in a social media post, breaking his silence after being removed from ministry.

Steven Lawson, 74, confessed to engaging in an inappropriate relationship, expressing deep remorse for betraying his wife, hurting his family, and bringing shame to his church and ministries.

In a post on X, Lawson stated he took time away to examine his heart and ensure his repentance was sincere.

He accepted full responsibility, emphasising that he had confessed his wrongdoing to God, his family, and those affected.

He also shared that he has been in counselling for several months, working through his failures under pastoral and elder accountability.

Seeking spiritual renewal, Lawson has focused on prayer, Bible study, and active church participation.

While grateful for God’s grace, he said he will not make further public statements for now, asking for prayers as he seeks reconciliation with his family.

The scandal, first revealed in September, remained largely undisclosed until additional details surfaced, as reported by The Christian Post.

Pastor Clint Archer confirmed Lawson had relocated to Tennessee to stay with his brother.

Meanwhile, a since-deleted social media thread from Phil Johnson claimed Lawson’s five-year relationship with a much younger woman, though not physically adulterous, was deeply inappropriate.

The woman, in her late 20s, reportedly lived in another state and was unaffiliated with his church or ministries.

Lawson closed his statement by asking for forgiveness and praying for healing in his marriage and personal life.
