Parents of world's most premature twins praise God for their 'miracle' survival

by Sophie Drew

The parents of the world’s most premature twins have given all the glory to God for their “miracle” survival.

The Canadian pair were born at exactly 22 weeks, in March 2022, making them “micro-preemies”.

A year after their birth, their parents have taken to social media to praise the Lord.

They wrote: “We give God all the glory for the miracle He has performed in sustaining both Adiah and Adrial.”

Following their birth, doctors performed life-saving surgery, but their odds of survival were believed to be nill.

Kevin and Shakina Nadarajah were told that all they could do was comfort their son and daughter until their passing, the Daily Citizen reports.

Initially, medical treatment was denied – believed to be futile – but an organisation called TwentyTwo Matters, who offer support to parents with children born during this gestational timeframe – worked with the family to advocate for surgery at a different hospital.

The father, Kevin, referred to the organisation as a “God send” in his social media post.

After six months in hospital, the twins were allowed home.

The couple have publically stated their belief in the power of prayer.

Shakina told Guinness World Records: “The babies were close to death so many times, and as people prayed, things would miraculously change.”

Guinness World Records says: “Shakina and Kevin are devout Christians, and they believe that the power of prayer – from friends, family, and even strangers worldwide – helped save the twins’ lives.”
