Hollywood A-lister Nicole Kidman has said she considered a life of religious covenant, before pursuing acting.
The actress was raised in a Catholic home, and has described herself as having a “strong belief” in God.
As a child, she attended a school run by the Sisters of Mercy, and said she was drawn to the idea of joining a convent.
“I loved the idea of being a nun,” she told Allure, “Obviously, I did not choose to go that path, but I was very drawn to it… I absolutely believe in God.”
Kidman is married to fellow Australian-American, Keith Urban. The couple share two daughters, aptly named Faith and Sunday.
As a family, Kidman ensured they attended mass: “That’s how we are raising our children. Keith has his own beliefs, but he comes, too,” the actress told Vanity Fair. “I had a very Catholic grandmother, and I was raised praying, so that had a massive impact.”
Many of Kidman’s films have been criticised by Catholics for their sexual themes. Her most recent film, Babygirl, has been censored in India, due to its highly explicit scenes.
