Nicki Minaj publicly praised God while she voiced her support for US President Donald Trump during an appearance at a White House-linked event in Washington, D.C.
Speaking on Wednesday at the Treasury Department’s Trump Accounts Summit, Minaj joined Trump on stage, held his hand and declared herself “probably the president’s No. 1 fan”.
Minaj told the audience that criticism of Trump did not affect her, saying the “hate” motivated her to support him more.
She added that she believed smear campaigns would not succeed and said Trump had “a lot of force behind him” and that “God is protecting him”.
Trump responded by telling Minaj, “We did pretty well with your community", an apparent reference to Black supporters. He also joked about the scale of contributions linked to Trump Accounts, citing a figure of $16Bn dollars (£11.6Bn).
Trump Accounts referred to Section 530A individual retirement accounts introduced as part of recently passed tax and spending legislation.
Under the scheme, the federal government pledged to deposit one thousand dollars into investment accounts for children born between 2025 and 2028 if parents signed them up while filing income taxes.
The White House later shared a photograph of Minaj and Trump together on social media, captioned “BARBZ x MAGA”.
