Mourners lit 42 candles to mark the day that would've been her 42nd birthday.
Around 150 people were present including MPs Chi Onwurah (below, top), Catherine McKinnell and Sharon Hodgson, who knew Jo Cox.
Assistant Bishop of Newcastle Rt Revd Frank White told Premier: "This woman has been a very significant figure in our lives - real engagement with people in difficult places in the world to bringing that back into the Houses of Commons to be able to speak up on behalf of the vulnerable and the marginalised.
"I think we've learned something about our politicians which is really important to have heard.
"It's really important that we give thanks to God for a life well lived."
Thomas Mair, 52, has been charged with murder after Jo Cox was stabbed and shot in her Batley and Spen constituency in June 16.
Mr Mair, who appeared at the Old Bailey via video-link from Belmarsh Prison on Thursday, is also charged with grievous bodily harm, possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence and possession of an offensive weapon.
He is yet to enter a plea.
His trial has been provisionally set for November 14th.
