The bishop of Llandaff, Rt Rev Mary Stallard, has appointed Rev Canon Dr Jason Bray as Llandaff’s Cathedral new dean.
Jason, originally from Merthyr Tydfil, has served the Church in Wales since his ordination by Bishop Rowan Williams in 1997.
He's currently Vicar of St Giles’ Wrexham and a Canon of St Asaph Cathedral. With a theology doctorate, he is an author, educator, and advocate for social justice.
Married to Laura, they have two grown sons and three cats. Prayers are requested for their upcoming move and for both congregations during this transition.
They plan to move into the Deanery in July, and we look forward to welcoming them into the diocese.
Rev Jason will take over from the Very Rev Richard Peers who announced his intention to retire earlier this year.
At the time, Rev Richard said: “It has been a privilege to work with Archbishop Andrew and Bishop Mary, and I am grateful to them and every member of the Church in Wales for welcoming my husband Jim and me with such kindness and warmth.
“It has been a great honour to serve as Dean of Llandaff and to share in the life of this congregation.”
Bishop Mary had asked Canon Chancellor, Canon Jan van der Lely, to be the Cathedral’s Acting Dean while a new Dean was appointed.
