From Sunday, more than 250,000 people are expected to take part in what will most likely be the most watched global worship event this year.
For the first time, world-renowned Christian hymn writers Keith and Kristyn Getty are taking the annual Sing! conference global.
Sing! Global 2020 is a four-day event which will be broadcast in English and translated into Spanish, Portuguese, French, Korean, and Mandarin. It starts 30th August and is set to feature over 100 speakers and artists from six continents including John Lennox, Joni Eareckson Tada, John Piper, H.B. Charles, Andrew Peterson, Conrad Mbewe, David Platt, Bill Gaither, Trillia Newbell, Alistair Begg, and the African Children's choir.
Keith Getty OBE said: "I'm not sure we have ever had such anticipation for an event like we have for this year's Sing! Global conference. I think we will look back in 30 years at this moment in history as one of the most unique opportunities to sing of the beauty and riches of our Lord, and cry out together as part of His global church."
With the event going online this year, organisers have sought to make it interactive by having attendees sending recordings of themselves singing the hymns being sung at the event. The recordings have then been integrated into a final mix.
Kristyn Getty added: "As we have shared in the same global crisis of 2020 we are more mindful of one another. As God's Church all over the world, we want to embrace this particular moment, using every facility of technology and innovation available to us to more greatly illuminate the gospel hope we sing and share in, the hope we proclaim to every corner of the world."
The theme for this year's conference is the centrality of God's Word in worship.
The conference, which is brought in part by Christian Healthcare Ministries, will include four main sessions, over 60 breakout sessions, online concerts each evening, the Global Hymn Sing, behind the scenes access, and artist interviews. The event will be available for 90 days for attendees to watch.
