A woman has been arrested in Angola in connection with the death of her husband, missionary Beau Shroyer.
Jackie Shroyer from Minnesota was detained after her husband Beau was found dead following an alleged violent attack on 25th October.
Mr Shroyer's church said in a statement released to the congregation: “Today, our grief and sadness has deepened immeasurably as we’ve learned that his wife, Jackie Shroyer, has been arrested in connection with his death."
According to The Christian Post, Beau, 44, was killed in a "violent, criminal attack" on 25th October while serving as a missionary in a remote village with no electricity, alongside his wife and five children, through SIM USA, an evangelical organisation.
Beau, a former pastor and police officer, had moved to Angola in 2021 to teach about Christianity.
His recent social media posts reflected his dedication, including stories of local students and agricultural work.
In past presentations, Beau had highlighted security issues in their mission area, sharing the need for protective measures.
SIM USA is ensuring Jackie has legal representation and working with Lakes Area Vineyard Church to care for the couple's five children.
Angolan authorities have not released details about Jackie’s connection to Beau’s death, and the church has requested privacy during this time.
