Methodist Conference inducts new President

The current chairman of the Cornwall District will take on the role for 12 months. He's served in circuit ministry for 15 years and has had a lead role in evangelism. He's also worked part-time on local television.

Speaking ahead of his induction he told Premier: "I feel very, very humbled. For anyone to be in this position, there's only one place you can be and that's on your knees before the cross.

"We can't do this on our own, it's not about 'me', it's about bringing glory to God."

His first job will be to oversee this year's Methodist Conference taking place in Southport. On the agenda is discussions on the Church's handling of abuse cases and talks on fossil fuels and ethical investment.

Also being inducted at the conference is Vice-President Dr Jill Barber. Together they succeed current President and Vice-President, Revd Kenneth Howcroft and Mrs Gill Dascombe.
