Golfer Cameron Young says Christian faith ‘central’ to family life ahead of Masters

by Premier Journalist

American golfer Cameron Young has spoken about the importance of his Christian faith ahead of the The Masters Tournament, saying it remains central to his family life while competing on tour.

In comments reported by Golf Digest, Young said faith plays a key role in shaping both his personal life and relationships.

“Our faith is very important to us,” he said. “It's something that I feel like brings us together. It's very important, I think, for all of us to kind of have that part of our lives be a central portion of what we do, individually and as a family.”

The 28-year-old also described how he and his family make a point of attending church wherever his schedule takes him.

“Wherever we are, we find mass to go to,” he said.

“I get a lot of really, really nice comments, people saying, ‘hey, thanks for setting a great example for my children,’ or whatever it is. Honestly, it's great to hear because I don't feel like that's the case all the time, and that's one area where I'm really happy to be able to bring attention to that part of our life.”

Young is part of the field at Augusta National, where play begins on Thursday as golfers compete for one of the sport’s most prestigious titles, with Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy returning as defending champion.

Several of those competing are openly Christian, including former champions Zach Johnson, Jordan Spieth, and Scottie Scheffler.
