A West Sussex man has been banned from visiting any church in the local area after receiving a Criminal Behaviour Order.

Worthing Magistrates Court head how Richard Gray, of no fixed address, had caused several problems to places of worship over many years including abusing a priest and 'persistant antisocial behaviour'.

The 56 year old now faces arrest if he is caught inside a church building over the next five years.

PC Steven Self from Sussex Police said: "I am pleased the court approved this application for a Criminal Behaviour Order against Gray.

"Gray was convicted of a public order offence in April following multiple reports of anti-social behaviour. Despite this, Gray’s behaviour has continued and so a Criminal Behaviour Order was sought.

"We are committed to putting a stop to anti-social behaviour and ensuring repeat offenders face the consequences of their actions."
