'Rooted in grace': Lily Phillips hits back at critics over porn work after baptism

Adult film star Lily Phillips has responded to criticism over her faith after continuing to produce pornographic content following her baptism.

Phillips, 24, said she sought to “reinstate” her relationship with God earlier this month when she was baptised at a church.

Her decision prompted backlash online, with some critics arguing that her declaration of faith should lead to changes in her behaviour, including stepping away from adult content.

Phillips rejected that view, telling The Christian Post that she does not intend to stop working in the industry.

“I understand that my faith and my work don’t fit neatly into everyone’s expectations of what a Christian ‘should’ look like,” she said. “I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting, praying, and being honest with myself about both.”

She insisted that her faith is “personal, ongoing, and rooted in grace, not in public approval or moral perfection”, adding that Christianity, for her, “isn’t about pretending I have everything figured out or meeting other people’s standards”.

“It’s about sincerity, growth,” she said, “and trusting that God meets people where they are, not where others think they should be".

Phillips’ comments have drawn further mixed reactions on social media.

“She has no relationship [with God] or there would be conviction and repentance,” one user wrote on X.

Another added: “We continue to pray for her and all who believe as she does. Father forgive them."
