New York Knicks player Josh Hart said he was encouraged to see Christianity growing in the U.S. after posting a message on social media celebrating a rise in Bible reading and worship.
Hart reshared a Fox News video on Wednesday that highlighted an increase in Bible sales, downloads of Christian mobile apps, and streams of contemporary Christian music. The 30-year-old guard added a series of celebratory emojis alongside the clip.
The New York Knicks are one of the best-known basketball teams in the U.S. National Basketball Association (NBA), based at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan.
Supporters praised Hart for publicly expressing his faith. One social media user wrote: “I hope you’re ignoring all the backlash in the replies. Remember what Jesus said: ‘And you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.’”
Another commented: “The number of people in the comments who view Josh posting this as a bad thing is alarming.”
Others criticized the post, accusing the player of amplifying what they saw as politically charged content.
According to Fox News, the video highlighted what some commentators have described as a renewed interest in Christianity across the United States, reflected in sales data and online engagement.
Hart, who had a standout 2024–25 season averaging nearly 14 points and 10 rebounds per game, has not commented further on the reaction to his post.
