Kirk Franklin wins 20th Grammy Award

by Tola Mbakwe

Legendary gospel music artist Kirk Franklin has won his 20th Grammy Award.

He won Best Gospel Performance/Song for ‘All things’ at the 2024 ceremony on Sunday.

Franklin also gave what has been described as a “stellar”, “amazing” and “anointed” performance at the Grammy’s Premiere show.

Christian rapper Lecrae took home two Grammys for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song and Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.

He said in an Instagram post after winning: “I haven’t fully processed it all yet. I’m grateful but it’s really something beyond my understanding. I just wanted to be the father I never had and give my kids experiences. God is beyond kind. Once I have more words I’ll share but for now... Thank you God for being gracious. Thank you Jesus for allowing me to be a part of your kingdom and using broken instruments to play healing music.”

The list of winners in Christian categories are as follows:

Best Gospel Performance/Song

  • Kirk Franklin – 'All things'

Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song

  • Lecrae & Tasha Cobbs Leonard – 'Your power'

Best Gospel Album

  • Tye Tribbett – 'All things new: Live in Orlando'

Best Contemporary Christian Music Album

  • Lecrae – 'Church clothes 4'

Best Roots Gospel Album

  • Blind Boys of Alabama – 'Echoes of the south'
