According to Fides, King Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa has freed up land for a Coptic Orthodox Church to be built in the capital, Manama.
It's after the king met Coptic Orthodox Patriarch Tawadros II during a visit to Egypt.
The new church will cater for 1,500 Coptic Christians who live in Bahrain and neighbouring Saudi Arabia.
King Hamad sanctioned Bahrain's first official church in 2013 - a Catholic cathedral in Manama.
Eighty three per cent of people in Bahrain are Muslim, with around nine per cent being Christian.
