Kim Kardashian has revealed that she was the winning bidder for the Bible her late father had gifted to his best friend and business client, O.J. Simpson.
The reality TV star from the hit program Keeping Up with the Kardashians said on Thursday’s episode of the show’s rebooted series that she used “an alias to bid on the Bible”, which she purchased for $80,276.
According to Kardashian, she had previously attempted to contact Simpson’s estate regarding a private purchase of the Bible but was unsuccessful.
In the end, she outbid other offers by more than $15,000, a price she said was worth paying because of how “special” it was to her, having once belonged “to her daddy".
“If anyone was wondering who won that O.J. Simpson auction, you best believe it was me,” Kardashian said while showing the Bible to family members.
The Bible was reportedly a gift from Kardashian’s father, Robert Kardashian, who gave it to Simpson around the time of the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, the murders for which Simpson was tried and acquitted.
Referring to the gift, she explained that it was given by her father to Simpson to “give him some motivation from Jesus".
Describing the sentimental value of the Bible, Kardashian added: “I thought it was a Bible that my dad bought O.J. It’s actually my dad’s Bible with his name inscribed on it. I didn’t know that.”
