Katy Perry and LA Archdiocese awarded $5m sum

The US singer wanted to buy the property, Los Feliz, in LA from the Roman Catholic Archdiocese in 2015 but restaurant business owner Dana Hollister also put in an offer which was accepted.

Dana Hollister has now been found guilty of interfering with Katy Perry's transaction with the convent and the jury said Hollister acted with malice.

The two have been battling for ownership of the 8-acre property for years but now Hollister will have to pay up the $5 million to cover legal costs, $3.47 million to the archdiocese and $1.57 million to Perry.

The confusion erupted when the LA diocese was working on the sale with Katy Perry while two nuns were trying to sell it to Hollister.

A judge determined in March that the nuns had no right to sell the property. They have not lived there since 2011.

Hollister's lawyer, Michael Geibelson said he will appeal the decision and Hollister herself said she will take it all the way to the Vatican.
