Vice President Kamala Harris recently found herself under scrutiny after a Bible reference went awry during a speech at the Economic Club of Pittsburgh.
While discussing the balance between patience and impatience, Harris alluded to what she called the Book of “Ecclesiastics”, seemingly referring to the Old Testament book Ecclesiastes.
Harris quipped: “That’s not in Ecclesiastics”, followed by a laugh, admitting she had briefly gone off-script.
However, the misstep was quickly picked up on social media, where users mocked the mix-up.
Comments on platform X ranged from: “This is why she never goes off script” to “What Bible is she reading?”
Some pointed out the parallel to a similar Bible-related gaffe made by former President Donald Trump in 2016.
While speaking at Liberty University, Trump referred to “Two Corinthians” instead of Second Corinthians, a mistake that garnered widespread attention and media coverage at the time.
According to The Washington Times, conservative commentator Todd Starnes noted that Harris’s blunder, like President Joe Biden’s 2020 reference to the “Palmist” instead of the Psalmist, might not attract the same level of media criticism.
Starnes argued that Biden’s error, which occurred during his Thanksgiving address, received little attention, highlighting what he perceives as a double standard in media treatment of conservative versus liberal politicians.
