Archbishop Rino Fisichella, the president of the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization, outlined the plans in Rome.
The ceremony inauguration of the Jubilee will begin with the opening of the Holy Door in the Vatican basilica on Tuesday morning.
The Feast of the Immaculate Conception will take place a few days later.
Pope Francis is expected to lead the way through the Holy Door, followed by priests and laity to the tomb of St. Peter.
The opening ceremony begins outside the Vatican in St Peter's Square and Holy Doors will be opened in cathedrals all around the world.
In addition the Rosary will be recited in St. Peter's Square every day during the Year of Mercy.
The Vatican Information Service said that: "It is a place where information can be obtained on the Jubilee programme, for registering for the pilgrimage to the Holy Door, for collecting tickets for the various events for which a free access ticket is required, and for collecting the 'testimonium' of participation in the Jubilee".
"He emphasised that only the Pontifical Council for New Evangelisation is authorised to certify presence at the Jubilee and in the pilgrimage on foot, via the information point. Any other certificate issued by other entities is not to be considered authentic."
