Christian apologist Wesley Huff has said that podcaster and UFC commentator Joe Rogan is now attending church consistently.
“I can tell you for a fact he is attending church,” Huff told Relevant Magazine. “Things are happening. He’s a very inquisitive individual.”
In a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan discussed historical and theological aspects of Jesus’ resurrection with Huff.
Huff, an expert in biblical manuscripts and Christian theology, serves as the Central Canada Director for Apologetics Canada, where he engages in public interfaith dialogues such as The Joe Rogan Experience.
He has also appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored.
During the episode, Huff addressed Rogan’s theory that Jesus might have survived the crucifixion, using historical and medical evidence to argue that this could not be the case, pointing out that the precision of Roman crucifixion practices at the time would definitely have resulted in Jesus’s death. Huff also shared his own transformative experience of recovering from paralysis at a young age, describing it as miraculous and pivotal in his faith journey.
Rogan’s show is the most downloaded podcast in the world, and his audience–largely made up of men in their 20s and 30s–has been tracking his growing openness to faith and spirituality.
Rogan was raised in a Catholic household and attended Catholic school. From 2000 to 2010, he was known for his critical stance on organised religion, but from 2020 began featuring guests from diverse spiritual backgrounds.
In February 2024, he had a discussion with NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers about the role of Christianity in society, with Rogan acknowledging the need for moral structure and the positive aspects of religious teachings.
Following his conversation with Huff in January, he made a statement last month expressing a preference for the concept of Jesus over scientific explanations for phenomena such as the Big Bang, stating: “I’m sticking with Jesus.”
