Jailed Chinese pastor's daughter arrested

Zhang Shanshan's husband has told Sky News she was arrested whilst in a shopping centre.

He thinks it's to stop her from raising her father's plight at a major summit due to be held in China which will be attended by Barack Obama.

Pastor Zhang Shaojie, the leader of Nanle County Church in China's Henan Province, was arrested in November 2013 and sentenced to 12 years for "gathering crowds to disturb public order" and fraud.

Since his detention his family has campaigned for his release and the case has sparked condemnation.

Ms Zhang's husband, Hah CheeChuan, told Sky she sent him a text message pleading for help.

He thinks the arrest is to silence her ahead of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

"They tried to cover up the ugly things in the country, and they don't want the outside world to know what is going on in China," he said.

"So I think that's why they've arrested them, and put them somewhere else."
